I've had my model B for over 3 years and she remained nameless all this time. I just couldn't find the right moniker for her. Many people on this board named their babies after the owners they got them from. I unfortunately didn't have that option because mine was purchased from a professional tag sale representative. I had thought of naming her Mrs. Bee but that name was up for grabs by a fellow site member. They were going to call her Mrs. Bee after the Andy Griffith Show, but decided to go with the characters professional acting name instead. So now my chambers Model B is Mrs. Bee! However when I was originally thinking about Mrs. Bee, I had the character from the show Hazel in mind. Shirley Booth played the maid to Mr.& Mrs. Bee. Mrs. Bee reminds me of the women that grace the covers and inside of the chambers cook books, elegant, tall and beautiful just like my model B.

I was convinced the stove's name would "magically illuminate my mind" the instant it came into the house....well, it didn't happen that way at all. After about two weeks and twenty names, I finally decided upon Francis Bavier Chambers. Francis Bavier was the actress who portrayed Aunt Bee on the Andy Griffith Show...she seemed to represent the classic, sturdy, no nonsense, good, loving, kind, chunky, unpretentious, well built, grounded, reliable, no frills, last forever and work right up to the last moment mid century american Haus Frau. So far, the name "Aunt Bee" is an apt monikor but, I am not opposed to changing it if another better name comes along.

Here's how Big Bertha got her name...
My friend Jamey, who generously offered & gave me my Chambers stove asked what I was going to name her. I thought & thought, remembering how my mom told me Chambers stoves are heavy and well built. Well, Jamey's husband Tom who grew up with lots of home cooked meals on the Chambers, graduated from the University of Texas. My Dad was a Longhorn from the word go and he use to take us kids to the football games. My favorite was halftime and watching the UT marching band. I remember Big Bertha, the worlds largest bass drum in a marching band. She was big, regal and white with shiny chrome, just like the Chambers stove. So, in honor of Mrs. Gillespie, the original owner & Tom's alma mater we naturally named her Big Bertha.
